THE search for the missing diver at Rendova Harbour, Western Province has been called off after four days of search.
The unsuccessful search was called off yesterday and a funeral service will be conducted later at the spot where he last dived.
Liobo Micah Masakolo one of those who was part of the search team said the search had been unsuccessful.
Only his dug-out canoe, flippers and diving gun have been seen on Sunday.
His body remains missing.
When asked if Munda police also assisted with the search, he said, the police only came on Saturday.
He said he didn’t understand why the police has to retire their team early.
“I don’t know why the police don’t assist us during the search for the past days. I suspect they might need funds before they can continue to search,” he said.
Munda police was contacted yesterday for comments on the Raro incident at North New Georgia and the missing diver but they referred the paper to contact the Provincial Police Commander (PPC) in Gizo for comment.
When PPC in Gizo was contacted he said they will only speak to the police media on matters related to police work.
