The discussion was held at the parliament conference room in Honiara.
Speaking in her presentation yesterday UN women National Program Coordinator for Gender Equality in Political Governance Audrey Manu said the workshop was to empower women to effectively advocate women’s issues which stops them from participating in the politics level.
A number of women’s representatives and organizations attended the workshop.
“The purpose of the workshop is to educate the Non-Government organisations and also Government,” Ms Manu said.
The participants were also divided into groups and discussed reasons that hinder women from participating fairly in the electoral process.
During their discussion the groups highlighted issues of cultural barrier, religion as some reasons which held back many women from entering into politics.
The workshop continues today.
