Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare confirmed this on his arrival yesterday from China.
Sogavare said one of the main issues of arrangement is the transfer of local students in Taiwan to PRC next year.
“Our relationship with China is growing and as I speak, our Minister for Education is traveling to China to look at the details of education cooperation and ensure ongoing students in Taiwan settle in PRC next year,” he said.
He said not only that, the Minister will use the trip to explore possible new education assistance offered by Chinese private sector.
Sogavare said currently Solomon Islands has a number of students studying in China which he has the opportunity to meet them during his trip to China.
He said now as the diplomatic tie has already established, the government and the People’s Republic of China are working to establish their respective offices in both countries.
“The next step now in the relationship is to facilitate the establishment of Diplomatic Mission in Beijing to keep investing in Solomon Islands and PRC relations,” he said.
Prime Minister Sogavare last week signed a memorandum of understanding with PRC on education corporation.
