The theme for this year’s pageant is “Advancing women in leadership and Stewardship.’’
Six participants are contesting this year’s Pageant show and they will be judged in four categories.
These include Sarong, Talent, Traditional Contemporary Wear and onstage interview.
All the points from these categories will be added up with their speech marks to determine the overall winner.
Each event will have a different set of judges appointed by the MSIP committee with specific judging criteria.
The event started on Friday with a Speech competition at the Auditorium.
During the speech competition the contestants presented their speeches on their selected topics related to the Pageant theme.
The contestants also did a float parade from the SICUL grounds at Town Ground, all the way up to the Solomon Islands National University Kukum campus and ended at the National Art Gallery.
Each Queen has their own float organized by their sponsor and Chaperons.
A separate award will be given for the best speech and the best float tonight.
The six contestants for the MSIP 2019 are Miss Western Province Mynisha Boso from Western Province, Miss Top Timbers Melissa Fomani from Malaita/Western province, Miss Coral Sea & Casino Gladys Habu from Isabel province, Miss Supper Star Tiare Haro from Malaita/Western Provinces, Miss JQY Bridgette Igilave from Western/PNG and Miss Honiara City Council Freda Maui from Renbel province.
