The Solomon Islands National U-17 men’s team has paid a special visit to Prime Minister Office (PMO) on Thursday.

Head coach Stanley Waita and his team management led the boys for the courtesy visit.

“Our boys paid a special visit to the Solomon Islands Government's Prime Minister Office in Honiara today (yesterday),” a statement from SIFF reads.

“Meeting the team is Acting Prime Minister Manasseh Maelanga who wishes the young lads all the best in their debut World Cup appearance.

“The Acting PM also reassured the team that his government through the Ministry of Home Affairs is committed to assist the team during their World Cup campaign in Brazil,” the statement said.

The national U17s also visited the Solomon Islands National Parliament Wednesday this week.

Star Sports understands the national U-17 squad is currently camping at the SIFF Football Academy.

They are now in full swing with their final preparation for the FIFA U-17 World Cup set to be held in Brazil.

Meanwhile, Solomon Islands is drawn in Group F of the Youth World Cup alongside the UEFA runners-up in the UEFA U-17 World Cup Qualifiers, Italy, South American team Paraguay who finished third in CONMEBOL U-17 World Cup qualifiers and Mexico the CONCACAF champion.

The FIFA U-17 World Cup Brazil 2019 will be played from 26 October until 17 November 2019.
