INVITATION is still open to clubs who are interested to compete at the second Avaiki Rugby 7s tournament this weekend.

The tournament organisers confirmed the tournament will start tomorrow (28 November).

And the organisers have agreed to restrict the number of teams to eight only.

The reason to limit the participating teams to eight was basically to cover all matches and finals on the same day followed by the presentation.

“In our meeting today, the committee was very mindful of the timing whilst people are preparing to leave to their respective islands.

“Therefore we decided only to host the game on the 28 Sat and not extending to Sunday as previously planned,” organisers said.

To date, only five teams have confirmed to participate and invitation is still open for clubs to participate.

The due date for entry will be on midday today (27 November).

Briefing and draws will take place at the Mendana Hotel at12 noon today (27 November).

Club representatives who wish to participate at the Avaiki 7s are requested to attend the meeting.


There will be good prizes up for grab, so, don’t miss it. The first prize is $4,000.00 and a perpetual trophy, second $2,000.00,third $1,000.00 and fourth place $700.00.

There will be consolation prizes for Most Valuable Player (MVP) and High Scorer.

Registration form can be collected from Ms Jessy Konifilia at Solhost, National Provident Fund Plaza, Point Cruz.
