It’s time to hit the books again

HOLIDAY is over and it’s time to get down and start hitting the books as students prepare to tackle another year of fun and commitment.

Excited students yesterday started pouring back into their various schools as the orientation week begins.

The Solomon Star yesterday visited various schools around the city with some still yet to start.

Schools like Bishop Epalle, King George VI and Panatina reopened their doors yesterday but formal classes will not start until next week.

For some schools it’s just the introduction but for others it’s time to get serious hitting hard on that pen and paper.

It’s this time of the year when excited students are eager to find out who their new class mates are, meet up with old buddies from last year  and also make new friends.

For those who will be their first year transiting from primary to high school, this year is expected to be a tough year.

It’s time you need to adapt to the high school environment.

And for those who will be transiting from High schools to Universities it’s time to be more responsible for yourself.

And it’s also this time of the year when parents have to dig deeper into their pockets to get money to make sure their children get an education.

Something many parents struggle to make ends meet just to see their children through education.

Over the weekend students have also left for the provinces to attend the secondary schools there.

Meanwhile, our students studying in various institutions in Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu and Fiji are also preparing to leave starting this week and throughout the next weeks to their particular destinations.

They will be ambassadors of our country.

The government and the parents will be banking on our overseas students to behave properly and be committed towards their studies because as ambassadors of the country, one is expected to set a good example.
