GUADALCANAL Province’s passenger ship, MV Solomone 1, is undergoing repair at Doma, west of the island.
This was after it hit one of the Point Cruz jetties last month.
The accident was caused by an inexperienced captain.
Local wielders have been hired to patch up a hole in front of the ship.
Because there’s no wharf in the area, the ship had to berth on the beach front to allow work to proceed.
A spokesman on board the ship said repair work should be completed by the month’s end.
MV Solomone 1 had been servicing Guadalcanal, Makira and Malaita provinces.
The damaged sustained had disrupted its services to the provinces.
The province’s second ship, MV Solomone II, is currently servicing Guadalcanal Province.
Meanwhile, the crew members have raised complains about delay in their salaries.
They called on the management to sort out the delay.
