ANOTHER Participating Police Force personnel has been sworn into the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force on Wednesday this week.

Michael Ertl is the third to be sworn into the local force.

Acting Police commissioner Walter Kola said the inclusion of these PPF officers to vital positions within the force is a strategy to boost the force.

“This is not a takeover, they are there to drive the various departments they are responsible for,” Mr Kola said.

He said Mr Ertl assume the superintendent rank to become the operations manager of Guadalcanal police.

He said Superintendent Ertl along with the first two officers are on the position for a six month period but subject to renewal.

Mr Kola said Superintendent Ertl’s major task is to ensure a potential and competent officer is identified to take on the role.

“We want to ensure this organisation moves forward.”

He said there are potential officers within the force but the unique skills of those PPF officers need to be taken.

The first PPF officer was sworn into the Police Response team, the second as the Operations manager headquarter and Micheal Ertl is the third.

Mr Kola said there are four positions that they are eying.

“The fourth is an operation manager for the Honiara City,” he said.

These officers are still being paid by their organisations.
