HONIARA City Council is creating additional space for burial at the Kola’a Ridge cemetery.

This is being done by digging into the hill sides for space.

The job, according to city mayor Andrew Mua, will cost the council $1.2 million.

Mr Mua said they decided to take action after complaints from the public that the grave yard was already over-crowded.

Mr Mua said the terrace they were digging should be able to provide space that could be used for the next three years.
