Police conduct talks in Isabel

E-mail Print

THE community awareness talks conducted by police officers in provincial communities continue – the latest success in Isabel Province.

Deputy police commissioner Walter Kola said six officers are actively engaged in Isabel.

Mr Kola said the six officers from Honiara’s community policing unit are moving to communities to give awareness talks on the effects of drug, alcohol and violence on individuals and communities.

“They have been doing a great job in the past few days and even today (yesterday) and should be back in Honiara tomorrow (today),” Mr Kola said.

“Reports we received from them are encouraging, because they are welcomed in communities and receive commendation and appreciation from villagers,” he said.

He said the issues are core factors affecting lives of villagers.

“Therefore such talks are not only helpful but allow them to see the unknown facts of what is becoming a problem in all communities.”

Some police officer last month travelled to Makira for the same program during which Kwaso instruments were surrendered voluntarily to police by chiefs and community elders.
