OUR Telekom says it will look into options to promote its services with better choice and satisfaction to maintain and get more customers.

Speaking to the local media on Wednesday the company’s Chief Executive Officer Loyley Ngira admitted that it’s hard to stop the flow of customers to another provider because customers have a choice.

Following the launch on Tuesday by bemobile, there have been customers mostly from Our Telekom who have shifted to register with bemobile due to its cheap mobiles with the inclusion of sim cards.

Mr Ngira said there will always be existing customers who would want to try out any new services.

“It happens everywhere and I cannot stop them,” he said.

When asked about what they will do to maintain their customers.

The CEO said, “we can do some specials and deals to keep them as well as offering some special rates”.

Already as of Wednesday they have slashed their SMS text messages by half from a dollar per message to $0.50cents.

They have also been giving free mobile handsets through various promotions in the country through questions on the radio.

However, Mr Ngira pointed out that the most important thing for customers to note is a better, wider coverage and better access to services.

“Sometimes prices is not the determine factor,” he said.

He said Our Telekom has a role to provide a better service all the time.

“And we are working continually and internally within our organisation to provide a service that is close to top class and we will work towards that. It takes time,” he said.

Mr Ngira, the first local CEO to head Our Telekom, said competition means choice and satisfaction and that’s the core of any business which they will also address to maintain their customers.

Our Telekom at the end of last month has 90, 000 registered mobile customers but following the launch on Tuesday that figure may reduce due to the flow of customers now registering with bemobile.

It has about 65 towers around the country with plans to build more than 40 new towers to spread its coverage.

New entrant bemobile on the other is looking at building more than a hundred towers
