Fifteen adults and two juveniles aged 14 and 15 were each charged with one count of arson and one count of unlawful assembly.
The men were alleged to have burn down all the houses in Ulubea riverside settlement leaving only the church building on May 27.
The incident occurred as a result of a disagreement between two parties in relation to a land that both parties claimed ownership of.
After a confrontation by the two parties a fight broke out resulting in the alleged burning of houses that left 123 men, women and children displaced and homeless.
The men were brought over to Honiara and were remanded in custody on Saturday before Magistrate Esther Lelapitu.
She remanded the men in custody to June 17 where they will appear again before the Honiara magistrate’s court.
