THE new Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) commissioner, John Langsley, arrived in Honiara yesterday afternoon.

Mr Langsley arrived to a low key reception at the Honiara International Airport and was welcomed by acting police commissioner Walter Kola.

Mr Langsley who was appointed to the post in March will take his oath today at the Government House.

He replaces New Zealander Peter Marshall who left the RSIPF last year.

Mr Langsley is expected to address the media today after taking his oath.

Attempts to talk to the new Police Commissioner yesterday were unsuccessful.

Meanwhile a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office has requested full support and cooperation by members of the RSIPF and from the general public towards Mr Langsley as he takes up this important role.
