ACTING Prime Minister Walter Folotalu has laughed off allegation that Prime Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo appointed him because he’s a ‘magic man’.
Some people in his constituency of Lau Baelelea in Malaita claimed PM Lilo appointed him because he has got the magic to keep the solidarity of NCRA government intact while he’s away overseas for two weeks.
However, Mr Folotalu said he’s not a magic man.
“I have the power of influence,” he laughed.
“I am also a born again Christian and have come this far because of the grace of God.
“I have charisma that even the Leader of Opposition Dr Derek Sikua does not have,” the Acting PM said.
Mr Folotalu said he helped established 10 churches for the Christian Outreach Centre (COC) in Malaita province.
His appointment as acting PM has come under public scrutiny after Prime Minister Lilo formalised it before leaving on his Asian trip.
Opposition Leader, Dr Sikua yesterday said he welcomed the explanation of Government House Deputy Private Secretary Rawcliffe Ziza but maintained his position that the Prime Minister’s appointment of Mr Folotalu was based on the political interest of his government.
Ziza earlier said under the constitution the Prime Minister has the power to appoint any ministers in the absence of him and Deputy Prime Minister.
