The police has referred the complaint made by Opposition Leader,
Dr Derek Sikua against Prime Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo to the Leadership Code
Commission (LCC).
This was after the complaint did not meet the criminal
criteria to warrant an investigation by Police.
Police Media Unit said it was not a criminal matter but
misconduct allegations.
As such, the Police said the Commission is the right body to
deal with the conduct of leaders.
But Police said that an investigation is underway on the defamation
case lodged by Prime Minister Lilo against Dr Sikua and his press secretary
Deli Oso.
However the Police said that it was too early to disclose any information
regarding the investigation.
PM Lilo lodged the formal complaint for possible criminal charges following the defamatory statements by Dr Sikua against him were published in the media.
