YOUTHS and children of Vura One heights have over the past three weekends helped clean up their community.
Speaking to Solomon Star, youth leader Chris Paine said that it was part of the youth and children’s community service.
“We have been cleaning our community the past three Saturdays and have really enjoyed it.
“Every young people and children in the community came out in numbers to clean up the bushes, collect rubbish and also mend our community member’s kitchens or other properties that needs fixing,” Mr Paine said.
Mr Paine said that so far the youths have cooperated tremendously in all organized activities.
“This year we have successfully organized a community band; we have organized our Easter celebrations and also just recently organized a special evening dinner on mother’s day.
“Now we will continue to work together in providing community service every weekend.
“Upon complete cleaning our area, we will then sit down and discuss what our next move will be,” Mr Paine said.
The youth’s organization in all community programs this year has won the support of most of the community elders in Vura One heights.
“The youths have organized themselves this year very well.
“We have seen dramatic changes in them.
“Everyone is working together with the aim of improving our community, whether it is cleaning our area or just organizing programs to keep themselves intact and also with the community.
“Our youths and children have won the praise of many of us,” Community chief Bu’uga said.
The youths will again this Saturday continue with their community service.
