Buala police launches 'Operation Sundown'

Buala Police, Isabel Province has carried out an operation call Operation Sundown at Kia area which kicked off on Monday.


The operation is initiated to crack down on the uprising alcohol related issues in communities in Kia District.

The operation was jointly carried out by Buala Police in partnership with RAMSI.

Provincial Police Commander Gabriel Manelusi said community leaders in Kia area has raised their concerns over the increase of alcohol related activities which triggers Buala Police to carry out the operation.

 Mr Manelusi said the operation also conducted a house to house survey to find out whether uprising issues in the area was caused by alcohol.

“My officers who are involve in the operation will interview individuals on the issue."

He said the survey also aim to identify license holders who do not abide to the Isabel Province liquor license law and  will report them to the license board to deal with them.

“We must make sure that license holders sell at the approved venue and hours."

 Mr Manelusi pointed out that the operation also targeted nine logging camps in the area.

The PPC has called upon community stakeholders in the area to assist police with the operation.

He added the operation will be done in all districts in the province to make sure law and order in the province is respected.
