The Nationwide Company Limited which holds 20 percent in RIPEL is calling on the Immigration Department to work with the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) to arrest and deport RIPEL Chairman Patrick Wong.

Nationwide Chairman David Tuhanuku said that Patrick Wong has been asked by the Government to leave Solomon Islands voluntarily after he was found to have been living illegally in Solomon Islands for about twelve months.

Mr. Tuhanuku claimed that Wong is trying to throw authorities off his track by giving them the impression that he left Solomon Islands last week when in fact he is still in hiding in the country and authorities are aware of this.

“Wong has manipulated the system to get a five year residence permit when it is normally for two years and he lodged his application while living in Solomon Islands. On top of that he had misled the Government and RIPEL shareholders and registered all of RIPEL assets when he did not bring millions of loans into RIPEL as he had always claimed,” Tuhanuku said.

The media has a responsibility to tell the nation where is Patrick Wong because he had been on the headline in the Solomon Islands media for many years and it is in the interest of the country to know what happens to Patrick Wong.

Mr. Tuhanuku also calls on the International Crime Unit and the Central Bank to work together to investigate into reports that Patrick Wong had been banned from entering Fiji, Cook Islands, Kiribati, and Vanuatu.
