Leaders brainwashed, Dr Sikua tells Lilo

OPPOSITION leader Dr Derek Sikua says some members of parliament are brainwashed by wealthy foreigners.

Dr Derek Sikua made the statement in a firm tone in response to the prime minister who claimed some MPs are carrying around with them bags of money.

“I have no idea who the prime minister was referring to but I must say that some of us here are serving the interest of our foreign wealthy men,” Dr Sikua said.

“They came into this country and stripped off her logs, beche-de-mers, minerals and other resources with the help of some of us leaders.

“We have been empowered by ordinary people to be responsible; instead some are here just to serve the interest of wealthy foreigners who want to rake this country’s resources.”

Dr Sikua filed a motion of confidence in the Prime Minister ahead of the Parliament meeting, which started last Friday, but withdrew it on the floor of parliament.

The support for the Gordon Darcy led coalition was rigid and Mr Lilo was not bothered at all during the lead up to the motion.

Dr Sikua said his decision was based on the grounds that important businesses are set for the house to deliberate on, and the visit of the royal couple which ended on Tuesday this week.
