ONE of the two men accused of selling the illegal homebrew kwaso  at Central Market area last year was fined $200 after pleading guilty to the charge.

Frank Ama was charged with one count of one count of selling liquor without a licence while his co-accused Rex Ramo is facing two counts of the same charge.

Ama pleaded guilty to the charge he committed on November 15 last year while Ramo denied the offences.

Principal Magistrate Steve Wilson gave him credit for his early guilty plea and for being a first time offender.

But he told the accused that kwaso is very dangerous as it affects social and health problems.

“People are affected physically by kwaso and you supply it when you sell it.”

Ama was then imposed $200 fine in default of 10 days imprisonment.

Meanwhile, Ramo will go on trial on April 13 and 15.

Hubert Fugui is representing Ramo while Nigel Galo represented Ama.
