A TAXI driver has been remanded in custody yesterday for the death of a Makira man in the Mbokonavera area in Honiara early this month after police arrested him on Monday.
Henry Gwao, 26, is now facing one count of murder in relation to the death of Edmond Pirangi on the night of February 1 this year.
Police are still looking for three other suspects.
The men allegedly stabbed Mr Pirangi with a sharp object. The deceased died later in hospital.
Police Prosecutor Luke Sandy yesterday applied for the remand of the accused.
The defence made no objections.
Magistrate Esther Lelapitu remanded Gwao and adjourned the matter to March 2.
Martha Manaka from the Public Solicitor’s Office is representing the accused.
