Today Honiara golfers will be hitting the golf course for another round of golfing action.
However, today’s event coincides with one of New Zealand’s important day in their annual calendar called the Waitangi Day.
As a result the Honiara Golf Club along with members of the New Zealand community in the capital are holding today’s event as the Waitangi Golf competition.
Top prizes are up for grabs and golfers are sure to have stiff competition amongst themselves as the action hypes up.
Last weeks event set precedence for another successful day on the golf course today and the number of participants expect to increase as it is a special occasion especially for the Kiwis.
The Waitangi Day commemorates a significant day in the history of New Zealand and it is a public holiday held each year in the country.
It basically marks and celebrates the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi, New Zealand's founding document way back in the early 1800’s.
