DEAR EDITOR – I am surprised how the Constituency Boundaries Commission could easily succumb to the pressure from the RENBEL province to give them one extra seat.
The RENBEL province population is too small to have an extra constituency.
It would be unfair to people of other provinces where they have a bigger population but yet have only one constituency.
What the Renbel premier should know is, there is already much money given to very little population with the current arrangement.
RENBEL is a province while at the same time it is a constituency but with only a voting population of around 5000,
How many provinces in the Solomon Islands have that luxury?
You are greedy, premier if the Boundary Commission succumbed to your request.
What you need to see is, you receive grants at the provincial level, and at the same time receive RCDF and other funding through the national MP.
Isn't that enough?
This is already too much for a small province like yours.
Get real and get down to developing your province with all the funding you are currently entitled to instead of sitting in Honiara and asking for one more constituency.
Even now with all the grants and funding your province and constituency receive you still lack a road around your lsland, what are you waiting for?
John Babasia
Honiara
