SOLOMON Kids Basketball Academy (SKBA) has donated basketballs to support the Central Islands Province GERUSA Games which will start on January 4th 2023.
SKBA coach and co-founder Moses Kivo, who formally handed over the balls to Central Islands Province representative Michael Kuali, said the donation include size 6 basketballs specifically for the 3×3 basketball code.
“We are donating these basketballs to assist the province as they prepare for their own provincial games in January,” Kivo said.
“This is just a simple gesture to assist them given their keenness in preparing for their games and then hopefully towards finalizing their 3×3 basketball squad to come to the 2023 Solomon Games, later in Honiara.”
When thanking SKBA, Mr Kuali said the items received will enable Central Province (CP) players to families themselves with the sport.
“Thank you so much for these items.
“We will definitely get our players on the court in Tulagi and get them familiar with the sport,” Mr Kuali said.
Kuali also mentioned that CP are keen on any form of quick training session for their players, so they can get used to the new 3×3 format and rules.
Meanwhile, SKBA is set to work closely with the Solomon Islands Basketball Federation (SIBF) and Passion Events, for the delivery of the 3×3 program and competition in the province.
This will be the first time a 3×3 basketball code will be formally conducted in a major provincial center outside of Honiara.
The Central Province GERUSA Games will be held from 4th to 9th January in Tulagi.
