The past eleven years has seen visible changes to the country’s stability thanks to the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI).
As the country and this regional organisation celebrated another year of partnership, the country has experienced significant changes.
As highlighted yesterday by Ms Justine Braithwaite RAMSI Special Coordinator said Solomon Islands has recovered from conflict and made significant progress as a nation over the past eleven years.
She pointed out that with stability comes economic and private sector growth, improved government finances, and strengthened service delivery.
“International, business and investor confidence in the country continues to grow, and once again, the Hapi Isles are perceived as a safe and vibrant place to live, work, visit and do business,” she said.
However she noted that there is still much to be done for Solomon Islands to achieve its full potential.
She added that the peace and stability fostered by RAMSI has provided the space needed for further growth, development and reform.
The RAMSI boss said the organisation itself has constantly changed and adapted since its arrival here in 24th July 2003.
“The most significant and recent of these changes took place in July 2013. At that time, RAMSI’s military troops withdrew peacefully from the country, signalling to the world how much the security environment in Solomon Islands has improved just over a decade.”
