Malaita Province on Friday launched the 2021 16 days of activism against violence against women and girls in Auki.
The 2021 16 days of activism was launched with the theme, “safety in our family leads to peace in our nation,” was launched by the Malaita Provincial Minister of Women, Youths, and Sports Erick Daoni.
Speaking during the launching Mr. Daoni said safety in the family is very important where he said this can only be achieved with collective effort from both father and mother in the family.
He said the current MARA government is in support of the 16 days activism against violence against women and girls.
With that, he encouraged the front lines to keep on the good work to ensure the message is well received by communities in the province to put an end to violence against women and girls in Malaita.
He said only a collaborative effort from all stakeholders will end violence against Women and Girls in Malaita and Solomon Islands as a whole.
The 16 days of activism in Malaita is supported by Oxfam, Malaita Provincial Council of Women, and Malaita Christian Care Centre, and other stakeholders.
The program was launched at the Women’s Resource Center in Auki.
