TWO Chinese men are recovering at the National Referral Hospital after their employees attempted to rob their White River shop on Thursday night.
Reports reaching the Solomon Star said the incident happened around 8pm shortly after the shop owner closed the shop.
The Chinese men sustained injuries to their heads.
It was alleged the four locals who attempted the failed robbery are the shopkeepers.
Reasons for the attack were still unknown.
However, a spokesperson from the National Referral Hospital Emergency Department said the two Chinese men were treated and now recovering.
Police declined to give details of the incident but said investigation into the matter is currently underway and arrest will be made soon.
A Whiter River resident Tony Sau said such criminal behaviour must not be accepted within our societies.
“It’s better if police can investigate the matter thoroughly and bring those suspects to face justice,” he said.
Mr Sau added that respecting foreigners who are operating their businesses within the country is paramount.
“So, letting no one to escape the consequences of law is a must and something our police force needs to improve on in carrying out their investigations into such criminal cases,” he said.
Mr Sau also called on parents to educate their children to be good citizens.
