MASKED men have broken into a shop in Auki, Malaita province over the weekend and stole $20,000 in hard cash plus other goods.
Reports reaching the paper said, the burglars entered ML store using sharp objects on Saturday night and removed the goods and cash.
The shop is owned by an Asian lady who has been operating her business in Auki for many years.
Malaita Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Alfred Uiga while confirming the incident to the paper stated that three (3) suspects have been arrested yesterday morning at about 10am in Auki town following thorough investigation.
The suspects were believed to be from Auki.
Some of the stolen goods have been recovered by Police during the arrest, but the cash is yet to be recovered.
Mr Uiga said, the suspects are now in police custody under investigation.
He added those involved will face justice and he appealed to the public to support the police in their work.
“I call on public to report anyone who is involved in this criminal act to Auki Police.”
