The Solomon Islands Football federation (SIFF) has released the names of 20 U17 futsal players to be part of the training squad.
These players will undergo further training until September 1 where the final squad will be named.
This squad will represent Solomon Islands at the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) U17 Futsal Qualifiers in New Zealand. The champion team will represent the Oceania region at the 2018 Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The 20 players were selected following a series of trials done last week at the Multipurpose Hall.
SIFF and the SISC uphold very strict requirements for this selection therefore players are required to provide honest proof of age to confirm their eligibility for the U17 squad.
Training sessions for the training squad continues every Tuesday and Thursday at the Multipurpose Hall from 12pm to 2pm.
Squad members are strongly urged to turn up for all training.
SIFF and the SISC aim to prepare the best team to ensure the nation maintains its dominance as the champions of futsal in the Oceania region.
The selection of the U17 squad is done collectively by SIFF and the Solomon Islands Sports Coalition who in the past have been very successful in developing futsal in the junior level.
Meanwhile SIFF would like to thank all the boys who were part of the futsal trials over the past weeks.
