THE Miss Solomon Islands Beauty Pageant 2015 was officially launched on Thursday night at the Honiara Hotel, with the introduction and presentation of the seven contestants.
They are Therisa Riokana, Lorah George, Gladish Sade, Lovinda Reggie, Dorris Muaki, Beverly Mawhimmey and Amanda Tepo.
Deputy Prime Minister Manasseh Maelanga launched the event in the presence of invited guests and business houses.
The contestants are now available for sponsorship from interested business houses.
Speaking during the launching ceremony Mr Maelanga said the government fully supports the event and will assist the winner who will be representing the country in the Miss South Pacific Beauty Pageant show.
He said the government promotes gender especially for young women to empower them and build their confidence to become future ambassadors.
He said having representatives in the Beauty Pageant is a pride for the country to showcase our identity.
As part of their programme the contestants will attend a church service at Kukum Seventh Adventist Church today.
On Wednesday next week, they will make a charity visit to the Christian Care Centre and on the following Sunday they will attend church service at the Wesley United Church and visit San Isidro Special Care centre on November 17.
The contestants will then make a float parade on November 19 before the final crowning on November 21.
Winner of the Pageant will represent Solomon Islands at the Miss South Pacific in Cook Islands this year.
The current Miss South Pacific is Miss Samoa’s Latafale Auva’a.
