The Governor General has announced the honors and awards for the New Year 2016 on behave of her majesty the Queen.
The awards were as follows:
1. Order of British Empire OBE _Robinson S Fugui- Service to the government in the area of environmental health and community development
2. Members of the British Empire MBE
– Angeline Merle Mrs Agorao for service to the community women and the Solomon Islands
– Chief Alfred Hairiu- Teaching service, Church politics, community development
– Alick Butala for Service to commerce and community Development
3. British Empire Medal
– Allen Chritian Tarai –Teaching and Community Development
– David Manea- Teaching service and community development
4. Queens police Medal QPM
– Juanita Matanga – Service to the police and community Development
The New Year’s honors and awards are presented each year to recipients in recognition for services they have rendered to the country as fellow citizens.
