INTERNATIONAL arrivals into the country has reached 14,648 in total for 2018 second quarter making an upturn of 26.4 per cent growth says the National Statistics Office (NSO).
Government Statistician, Douglas Kimi, while releasing the figures for the second quarter of this year recently said the increase of 26.4% compared to the 1st quarter 2018, and compared to the same quarter a year ago makes an increase of 13.2 per cent.
Mr. Kimi stated that returning residents made up 51 per cent of arrivals for second quarter 2018 adding this was followed by visitors with 48 per cent of arrivals and the remaining 1 per cent were intending residents.
“Visitor arrivals for the second quarter increased by 11.5 per cent to 7,021 visitors, compared to the first quarter 2018 figure of 6,296 visitors. There was a 9.3 per cent increase in visitors’ arrivals from second quarter 2017 to second quarter 2018,” he stated.
