TWO hundred and seventy-four (274) intending candidates have been nominated to contest the 33 seats for the Malaita provincial assembly next month.
Returning Officer for MalaitaProvince Thomas Puahanikeni confirmed this after nominations closed at 4pmyesterday.
He said that total number is for the whole province.
Mr Puahanikeni revealed that list of provincial candidates and their nominees will be pinned up very shortly at all the polling stations in the respective wards for the public to see and know the candidates.
Intending candidates have until 26 of Novembers to withdraw from contesting, Mr Puahanikeni added.
“During that period of time if any one formally withdraws, then the ministry will be refunding his or her fee, but if after that date which 26, fees will not be refunded for candidates.”
A number of females have also been nominated.
