Solomon Islands recorded 296 new additional COVID-19 cases in the past 72 hours bringing total case count to 11,470.
Health Minister Hon. Dr Culwick Togamana made this statement in his latest COVID-19 situation update Thursday, this week where he announced that from these 296 new cases;
10 cases recorded in Malaita, 3 in Guadalcanal, 29 in Western, 37 in Choiseul, 5 Central Islands, 143 in Makira, 21 in Renbel and 48 in Honiara. Isabel update for the reporting period not yet received while Temotu province still reported zero cases for COVID-19.
‘in terms of death, following reports from our provinces including the National Referral Hospital, deaths still stand at 133 with no new deaths in the past 72 hours’, stated Dr Togamana.
With hospitalization, the health minster informed that the NRH is currently managing 5 COVID-19 patients as of Thursday this week following one new admission in the past 48 hours. ‘From the 5, one (1) is considered to be in severe condition and the remaining 4 patients, moderate’,
‘Across our provinces, total of 22 people had been admitted to our provincial hospitals due to COVID-19, 15 mild cases had been reported in Gizo hospital, 5 cases at the Kilufi hospital with 1 of the 5 in critical condition and the rest moderate. The remaining are 2 severe cases admitted at Kirakira hospital, Makira Province’, stated the health minister.
No COVID-19 hospitalization for all the other Provinces had been reported as of today. Having said that, hospitalization due to COVID continues to drop with majority of those admitted since the start of the community transmission have recovered and have returned to their homes.
