SINPF to purchase Auki plaza

THE Solomon Islands National Provident Fund (SINPF) will soon own the controversial Auki Plaza, in Malaita province for SBD3.5 million, following an auction deal.
This was confirmed to the Solomon Star, by the Premier of Malaita province, Peter Ramohia.
Yesterday, the premier and the SINPF General Manager Mike Wate met in Auki to discuss the deal, which will see SINPF owning Auki Plaza in the coming month.
Premier Ramohia said his office already received documents of the deal from SINPF.
“The provincial executive will go through the agreement this week, and come up with a decision on the deal, at the end of the week.
“By next week, someone from the SINPF board in Honiara will travel to Auki to seal the agreement with the Malaita provincial government,” Mr Ramohia said.
He added, once both parties have agreed with the deal and it is signed; the land title will then be transferred over to SINPF to become the new owner of Auki Plaza.
“As soon as the transfer process is completed, the provincial government is expected to receive the first 10% of the payment, by August this year,” Mr Ramohia said.
With that deal falling through, the premier said the Auki Plaza is expected to be sold before the current MART government under his leadership leaves office.
Auki Plaza is now vacant, after tenants were forced out of the building after they refused to comply with the MPG.
