A TOTAL Of 330 Solomon Islanders will be screened this week as part of the ‘Work Ready Pool’ to work under the Solomon Islands/Australia Labour Mobility Scheme.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade Labour Mobility Unit said, the screening will take place on Wednesday and Thursday this week.
The screening will involve a face to face interview and fitness assessment.
Of the total males make up the majority of the group.
The first group will be screened on Wednesday and the second on Thursday.
The statement explained these candidates were from the ones that applied in August 2021.
A list has been issued for those who will be screened at Maranatha Hall.
Candidates who have been enlisted are asked to turn up on time, must be neatly dressed and well presented, bring their passport, vaccine cards, a pen, wear masks and should bring clothing suitable for fitness assessment.
Candidates are being urged to attend, as priority will not be given to anyone again, once they miss their screening schedule.
Last year about four hundreds were screened. Some of them have left for Australia to work.
This year the screening numbers have increased as the demand for labour force also increased in Australia.
This week’s screening comes after the country went through strict restrictions and lockdowns following the COVID-19 outbreak early this year.
The Labour Mobility Unit assured others who have applied over the past months that they will host more screening and interview events in the coming weeks and months.
Candidates are required to wait until they are notified to attend screening.
Government recently announced that it intends to increase the number of Solomon Islanders going overseas to work.
The Australian Government also assured the country that families can work in Australia and become citizens.
