THE first 3×3 basketball competition for this year, the TOSS Tech 3×3 Independence Challenge ended successfully at the Multipurpose Hall outdoor courts on Thursday.
Phila finished top of the men’s category after edging their way past Jelly Fam 10-9 in the men’s grand final match and Gunnerz men’s team finished on third place.
Sunrise women’s team scooped the women’s top prize award after defeating HALZ 7-4 in the grand final and El Divas settled on third following their win over 71 Eclipse.
The objective of the Tip-Off monthly 3×3 Basketball festival challenge is to provide avenue for players, teams and officials to meet, play, fun, acclimatizes and enjoy the game and their time together, and as well enhance their basketball skills and the code.
As expected, it was more festival oriented, families, players and officials came together and enjoy their time, not only playing and watching but also took part in celebrating the country’s 44th Independence Day.
The event was also an opportunity for SIBF to help scout players to represent Solomon Island at the upcoming Pacific Game 2023 and other future regional 3×3 competitions.
Organizers thanked all the teams, their sponsors, the tournament’s sponsors for their support in making the competition a success.
