A FOUR year old boy watched helplessly as his mother was tied to a wooden chair while being beaten by the father.
The-43-year-old husband is a now a subject of investigation by Malaita Police after the incident occurred at Oneoneabu village in Central Kwarae, Malaita Province recently.
A statement from Police Media Unit said, the husband also used threatening words and promised to kill her.
All these event unfolded as their four-years-old son was watched, it was reported.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province Chief Superintendent Tex Tafoa said, “The case was reported to Auki police on domestic violence and police are investigating the matter.”
PPC Tafoa said, the suspect was arrested and charged with domestic violence contrary to section 58 (1) under the FPA Act and he has appeared before the Auki Magistrate Court.
“This is serious matter and police will not tolerate such behaviour and acts towards women in our communities.”
Mr. Tafoa has reminded spouses, especially men, to refrain from carrying out such behaviour towards their wife.
“Our homes should be a peaceful place for our children.”
