SIXTY young people will be graduating from the music class at the Bishop’s Dale, West, Honiara this weekend.
Police Commissioner Frank Prendergast said this music class is part of their crime prevention activity that they have been engaging with young people particularly around the Bishop’s Dale area through a school of music that the police band is conducting.
He said those young people have involved in that school over the last four months.
“This weekend we will be holding a function to issue music certificates to successful students,” he said.
“The program is really focused on music theory so teaching people to read and write music.”
Mr Prendergast said it is a significant achievement for the young people who have been involved but would also like acknowledge the work of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) police band director and his staff in engaging with the young people and teaching them.
“This is really again part of the crime prevention approach where we are trying to build better relationship with young people.”
