Seven babies from Chapuru community in Sagalu ward, northwest Guadalcanal received the Sacrament of baptism by the sprinkling water for the first time over the weekend.
Solomon Star Northwest Guadalcanal Stringer John Toki said that it was officiated by Fr Peter Chele, acting Parish priest.
“This is the way forward for the children,” Fr Chele said.
Toki said that Fr Chele urged parents to bring forward their babies for baptism because it was the right example shown by the messiah more than 2000 years ago.
Mr Toki said that more than 200 members attended the service.
He added that it was important for parents to dedicate their babies to God these days and this was the start of the journey.
Water baptism symbolized the believer’s total trust in and total reliance on the Lord Jesus Christ, as well as a commitment to live obediently to Him.
