A TOTAL total of seven candidates have submitted nominations after the Vuhokesa ward by-election nomination closed on Wednesday.
“As of 4pm, Wednesday, our Election Office officially received a total of seven candidates who have submitted their nominations to contest,” Returning Officer Madlyn Ero said.
“Out from the seven submissions, six of them are males and one is a female,” she added.
The by-election becomes necessary following the death of councilor Jack Igi last December.
The nominated candidates are Paul Furai, Dorothy Ngaro, Dominic Mauli, Jack IgiLui, Robert Sale, Danny Konge and Greg Malefo.
During the closing, they have also conducted a ballot draw which was also witnessed by the candidates.
The list of the candidates along with their symbols will also be prepared to be published in the respective ward later this week.
MsEro further said that for those who wish to withdraw their nominations can do so before 4pm on the 17th, after which the final notice will be issued.
It is understood that campaigning had started straight after the closing deadline.
The Vuhokesa by-Election will be on the 2nd of March.
