SEVEN people have been arrested and charged in relation sorcery-related arson case at Bulokalai Village in Aola area, East Central Guadalcanal.
Police Commissioner Mostyn Mangau in his weekly press conference this week revealed that all suspects were charged with arson and were bailed to appear in court at a later date.
“Six suspects were arrested at Aola, while one was arrested at Alligator Creek recently,” he said.
He said this was in connection to an incident on May 10 at Bulokalai Village whereby an elderly person was accused of practicing black magic.
Police earlier reported that the seven suspects burned down four houses and a kitchen belonging to the elder and his relatives.
That elderly person was allegedly killed earlier.
The man who killed the elderly person was already charged with murder.
He appeared previously in the Honiara magistrate’s Court and his matter was adjourned to August 12.
