A TOTAL of seven pageants will be competing in the 2025 Miss Pacific Islands Pageant to be hosted in Honiara next month.
The pageant is scheduled to be staged in the first week of February.
The participating countries in this year’s pageant is of course the host, Solomon Islands which will be represented by Miss Elsie Polosovai, American Samoa which will be represented by Miss Pauliana Felise-Vitale, Kiribati which will be represented by Miss Kimberly Tokanang, Papua New Guinea which will be represented by Miss May Torowi Hasola, Samoa which will be represented by Miss Litara Ieremia-Allan, the Kingdom of Tonga which will be represented by Miss Racheal Gittenbeil and Nauru which will be represented by Charlei Andrianna Deiye
The current Miss Pacific Islands Crown-holder is Miss Moemoana Safa’atoa’a Schwenke of Samoa.
Solomon Islands is one of the Miss Pacific Islands member countries that is yet to win the crown.
Solomon Islands was close to snatching the title when Gladys Habu participated in 2019 and came second. Papua New Guinea (PNG) hosted that event. Samoa was the overall winner.
This will be the second time for Solomon Islands to host the event. The first was in 2013 when Miss Cook Islands Teuira Napa won the crown.
Solomon Islands was represented at that time (2013) by Tema Wickham who was the 3rd runners up (4th position).
The Miss South Pacific Pageant was established in 1987 by the Government of Samoa as a regional event to recognize and promote the attributes, intelligence, and talents of Pacific Island women. The pageant recognizes Pacific Island women, their contributions to regional affairs, and their ability to advance in diverse fields.
The Government of Western Samoa hosted the first show in 1987. Miss American Samoa, Juliet Spencer, was crowned the Miss South Pacific.
Until 2000, the Miss South Pacific Pageant allowed South Pacific Islanders to represent their homeland communities even though they lived abroad.
