THE Correctional Service Solomon islands (CSSI) Women’s Network is a success story for women officers within the organisation.
CSSI inspector Leah Alufo’oa said this has led to substantial improvements and has grown in strength since its inception and has become an effective voice in expressing women officers’ needs and issues in CSSI.
She highlighted this at the inaugural Australian High Commissioner’s International Women’s Day Award in Honiara last Friday.
CSSI Women’s Network celebrates its eight years of the network with the award they received from the Australian High Commissioner.
Mrs Alufo’oa said the total female officers in CSSI were 74 and currently they had four female officers within the senior ranks of CSSI.
She added that women now taking up higher roles and responsibilities within the organisation.
“The CSSI Women’s Network dream is in 5-6 years time, female officers graduated with formal qualifications will be in the decision making roles as most of us are currently doing our studies at USP,” Mrs Alufo’oa explained.
The CSSI Women’s Network was awarded the inaugural Australian High Commissioner’s International Women’s Day Award this year.
