World President of the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) church has arrived in the country on Sunday.
Pastor Ted NC Wilson’s visit is part of celebrating 100 years since the arrival of the Adventist gospel in the country.
Captain G.F. Jones sailed into Viru Harbour, New Georgia, Western province on his boat, Advent Herald, 100 years ago to plant the seed of the Adventist message in June 1914.
Pr. Ted Wilson will be accompanied by Pr. Barry Oliver, president of the South Pacific Division of the Seventh-day Adventist Church based in Sydney, Australia.
He will spend the next few days in the country visiting the Western province and parts of Honiara.
A welcome ceremony had been planned at the Honiara international terminal.
After the welcome the President will meet the country’s Governor General Sir Frank Kabui.
In the afternoon he travels down to Kukudu, where he will meet and preach to the members of the church who have all converged into Kukudu since early last week.
President Wilson is expected back in Honiara tomorrow where he will meet with Prime Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo.
At lunch hour he will meet with government dignitaries, church leaders and other civil leaders.
The president and his delegation will then visit the USA WWII Memorial at Skyline Drive and later the Betikama cemetery.
Tomorrow evening a combine meeting for all the Adventist members in and around Honiara will be held at the Maranatha Centre, near Burns Creek, East Honiara.
A final combined meeting will be held at the Maranatha Hall on Tuesday morning at 8am before the President and his delegation leave for Fiji by lunch hour.
In Fiji he will unveil the newly established Fulton College which has been relocated from Tailevu to Nadi.
The President also expected to open the newly built Pacific Tertiary Evangelistic Centre (PTEC) near the University of the South Pacific (USP) in Suva where most of the regional Adventist students will use to worship.
