Popular local gospel band the ‘Soul Seekers’ during the festive week engaged themselves in witnessing to God’s people in Port Vila, Vanuatu.
They were invited to participate in the Vanuatu Mission’s Youth Congress held over the Christmas and New Year period.
The group which is part of the Varamatta Adventist Youth Society of the Seventh Day Adventist Church was no new face to performing to huge audiences around Port Vila.
They visited Port Villa twice in the past years.
Throughout the past two weeks, the group involved in gospel campaigns, spreading the word of God to thousands around Port Vila and also other spiritual activities which required them witnessing to people through music.
Speaking to this paper via email, one of the group’s lead vocalists, Yaxlee Anisi said it was good to be doing God’s work during the festive week.
“I was indeed glad to have come on this tour with the group rather than stay home doing nothing or let alone tag along with friends doing ungodly things which would only bring more harm than good to my life as a youth.
“Not only that but it was indeed a relief and blessing seeing people come day in day out just to here God’s words through the messages in songs that were presented throughout the various programs we attended,” Mr Anisi said.
Band Manager and Director, Mamu Hebala Paza said that it was another intriguing experience not only for the band but also to their fans and God’s people in Port Vila.
“The last time we came over to Vanuatu was in 2008, at that time the boys were still in High School, and then again in 2010. Now we have made it again to Vanuatu and still we see the same impact that God’s message have on people growing each day.
“It is indeed a worthwhile experience seeing some of the spiritual seeds we have planted here (Vanuatu) during our two previous trips growing and blossoming,” Mr Paza said.
The band is expected back in the country this week.
