For the first time after the April flash flooding community of Koa Valley below Koa Hill near Mataniko river has celebrated St John the Baptist day yesterday.
The celebration coincided with the blessing of the church building and to remember those who lost their lives during the flash flooding.
Deputy Prime Minister Manasseh Maelanga, community elders and victims of the recent flash flooding were part of the event.
Bishop John Kuba said that Christians should work together to rebuild their Christian lives in their own families, communities and country as a whole.
“This church building is an example of how we should stand strong and maintain our faith to God.
“The power of God is greater than anything else in this world that Christian should believe and work together to build back our homes, families and community from this place,” Bishop said.
He said it is an importance for every Christians in Koa valley to witness the blessing of the survival church building as well as commemoration of those who lost their lives.
Catechist Francis Moli said only the church survived the flash flood and as christains it’s a great lesson to learn from to remain strong and focus.
Meanwhile he urge the community to work together, start a new beginning, be patient, follow instructions and help each other to rebuild their lives.
