Dear Editor – I read with interest Robert Iroga’s reply to Peter Forau as published in the recent Sunday Star.
According to Iroga, the reason why Solomon Islands was not quick to support the renewal of Forau’s contract was because Solomon Islands wanted to follow strict protocol.
Iroga also explained that even though other Melanesian countries have given their support to retain Forau as Director General of the Spearhead office for a further term, Solomon Islands just wanted to play by the rules.
If there are strict protocols to follow in the Melanesian Spearhead alliance, then why weren’t they followed when Solomon Islands lobbied for Dr Rodgers to take over the Pacific Forum top job when a PNG candidate was already favoured?
Maybe Peter Forau was correct in saying that some of the officers in the PMO are stupid.
When the highest office of our country behaves erratically, they embarrass our country and make us the laughing stock among other nations.
