A WEEK-LONG Akan Christmas games at Kilu’ufi sports ground ended last week on a high note.
The 7th Akan Christmas game was organised mainly to engage sports men and women from Ato, Kilu’ufi, Aligegeo and Niuniu villages to celebrate Christmas.
Speaking at Aligegeo village a day after the official closing, Chief David Iro said the game this year impressed him a lot.
“I was so grateful with the Akan Christmas games this year because it continued to gain popularity and more young people joined in.”
He added that his village this year experienced low anti-social behaviors such as alcohol consumption and causing disturbances in the village due to the sports engagement.
“Our young people really enjoyed the event,” he said.
“I want to see the event continue this year with new ideas to engage more young people in sports to lure them (young people) from alcohol and other illegal activities.”
He thanked the organizing committee for the hard work.
